Jamestown, NY – You still have this month to enter your best photos in the 2017 Nature Photography Contest sponsored by Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC).

Since a beautiful nature photograph inspires appreciation for the natural world, the Photo Contest helps fulfill Audubon’s mission of connecting people with nature,

Whether you choose favorites from your collection or decide to shoot new ones, Friday, June 30, is the deadline to submit your images. With a simple online submission process, you are encouraged to enter your work whatever your level of experience.

Prizes for the contest are awarded in two divisions with four categories each, for a total of eight winners.

The Youth Division is for ages 8 to18 or still in high school. Adult is 18 and over or post-high school.

Youth and Adult winners in the categories of Landscapes, Plants (includes trees, fungi, lichens, mosses, etc.), Wildlife (animals in their natural habitats), and Audubon Community Nature Center each receive a $100 cash prize. The latter category is for photographs taken in the building or on the grounds at ACNC.

Photographs by the winners and finalists will be featured online, and prints of the winning photos will be displayed at the Nature Center. All winning entries are announced in a widely-circulated news release, including to the winners’ hometown newspapers.

The winning photographs from 2016 are on display at ACNC. Images of winners and finalists from previous Nature Photography Contests can be viewed at acncphotocontest.com, where full details for the competition can also be found.

Entry fee is $10 per photograph. All funds raised support Audubon’s environmental education programs.

Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania.

The Nature Center building is home to the Blue Heron Gift Shop and three floors of interactive exhibits, including live animals that inform and engage visitors of all ages. Building hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and Sundays 1 to 4:30 p.m. To learn more, visit auduboncnc.org
