Make a Beautiful Beaded Monarch Pendant at Audubon, August 21 and 24

Jamestown, NY – The Monarch Butterfly Festival is a delightful way to celebrate these beautiful and valuable creatures as well as the impending close of summer.

Audubon Community Nature Center is adding a pre-Festival event as a special salute to the Saturday, August 26, celebration.

At a two-afternoon workshop on Monday and Thursday, August 21 and 24, you can make a lovely beadwork butterfly pendant to wear to the Festival or give as a gift.

From 1 to 3 p.m. both days, bead artist Anne Jackson will work with you to create a life-like Monarch Butterfly using various colors of seed beads. The completed butterfly can be worn as a necklace or pendant, or it can be framed. Students will learn to do the beading stitch known as brick stitch.

Jackson is a member of the Chautauqua County Society of Artists. She teaches beading privately, as well as at Audubon.

Be sure to bring your glasses if you need them for close-up work.
