Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Lists Oct. 18 Highlights

The popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues its 15th season on Oct. 18. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, rain or shine, through Nov. 29.

Providing musical entertainment on Oct. 18 (weather permitting) will be Brian & Peg from 9:30 to 11 a.m, followed by Porcelain Train from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Occupying the market’s community tables this Saturday will be Border Community Services of Niagara University and Yelp Buffalo. Additionally, Weiss Farms will be bringing their popular pumpkin wagon to the market on Oct. 18 and 25!

New vendors for 2014 include Biscotti for Everybotti, BreadHive Worker Cooperative Bakery and Kwilos Farm.

The Electronic Benefit Transfer system and Double Up For Bucks program will continue operating at the market through Oct. 25. Customers can use their EBT card at the market to purchase dollar-for-dollar tokens that are used to purchase food products from participating vendors. With the Double Up For Bucks program, EBT users also receive matching funds — in the form of silver tokens — that can be used only for fruit, vegetable and herb purchases. EBT users can receive up to $20 in Double Up tokens per visit. Please visit the Elmwood Village Association table at the market for more information.

Elmwood-Bidwell’s EBT program is made possible thanks to generous grants from the Field & Fork Network, Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition, Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo and the Lexington Co-operative Market.
