Society Of Artists To Exhibit At Library

JAMESTOWN – The Prendergast Library Art Gallery will feature a group exhibit by the Chautauqua County Society of Artists Jan. 14 through Feb. 11.

There will be an opening reception to meet members of the group and discuss their work from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, in the Library’s Fireplace Room. The reception is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

The Chautauqua County Society of Artists grew out of the Jamestown Sketch Club organized in the early 1900s. The group provides an opportunity for talented people to develop their artistic gifts and share their work with the community. Members range from self-taught amateurs to professionally trained artists with master’s degrees. Several have exhibited widely in many galleries.

Celebrate Christmas for the Critters at Audubon

Celebrate Christmas for the Critters at Audubon
Jamestown, NY – Have you ever wondered how the animals at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary celebrate Christmas? This year they are going to have their own party – and you’re invited! On December 29, at 10:00 am, you’ll find a tree set up, and the animals will have holiday decorations in their habitats. During the party, Audubon staff will bring some of the animals out to meet you. You can learn about them, touch them, and wish them a very happy holiday! You can also go behind the scenes to visit Liberty the Bald Eagle.

Your admission is your wrapped gift that you can put under the tree. What do you get a toad for Christmas?

Films that Bring Awareness to WNY

Films that Bring Awareness to WNY

Have you got a new resolution for the New Year? Go to the gym more, do this more, do that more, give up this habit, maybe find a new hobby? If you're like me, with each new year comes a new hope. Hope for a change in something about yourself, a new hope usually fizzles out around that second week of the cold temperatures when instant gratification simply is not happening. Well, this year I've got a resolution that I'll stick to, one that makes me proud. Perhaps it's a resolution that you would like to adopt for yourself.

This year my resolution is finding awareness, and sharing it.
