Writing With Light Student Exhibition

Just Buffalo Literary Center and CEPA Gallery are pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Writing With Light Student Exhibition. A celebratory reception will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at CEPA Gallery in the Market Arcade building, 617 Main Street, Buffalo.

Featuring selected works from Just Buffalo & CEPA Gallery’s education programs from the past year, the exhibit will display work from Picturing Poetry, Writer Residencies, and Bookmaking projects.

Writing With Light reached more than 3,500 K-12 students across the region this year, and its emphasis on intensive one-on-one contact between teaching artists and students yields powerful creative results. 

Genevieve DeCarlo, a 3rd grade teacher at Discovery School, P.S. 67 explains, "It was amazing to see the growth of my students... All children should be able to have this awesome learning experience!"

Erie County SPCA Sponsors Paws in the Park Walk

As the SPCA’s longest-running fundraiser, the Paws in the Park Walk presented by Keller Technology Corporation invites people to come with (or without) their dog to a two-mile walk at Beaver Island State Park on Saturday, September 11, at 11 a.m. (Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.)

The day includes lunch for participants and the opportunity to interact with: 50 or more pet-related vendors, exhibitors and canine rescue groups; judged dog trick, costume and dog-owner look-alike contests; an agility course for the dogs; and fun for children and adults alike with inflatable bounce houses. 

Participants are encouraged to raise pledges that directly benefit the people and animals the SPCA assists. In return, these participants win incredible prizes, including airline tickets, messenger bags, and pet first aid kits!

Bemus Bay Pops to Perform on the Floating Stage in Bemus Point

This Labor Day The Bemus Bay Pops Concert Series does it again with their successful Labor Day concert series featuring the full symphonic Bemus Bay Pops orchestra under the direction of Bruce Morton Wright along with John Marcellus and Steve Swanson bringing the 2010 summer season to a close witn an incredible musical finale that can only be described as magical and world class!

Heads Up for the Bemus Bay Pops Craft Beer Festival!

The Bemus Bay Pops Concert Series is very proud to announce The Craft Beer Festival 2010 - an annual Fund raising event supporting The Bemus Bay Pops.

The Craft Beer Festival features beer from breweries including Southern Tier Brewing Company, Ellicottville Brewing Company and Michelob Brewing Company, and will take place on September 2, 2010 from 6-9 PM. with performances by Sean Patrick McGraw, Sylvia Fletcher, and The Fabulous Gunslingers.

This SPECIAL FUNDRAISING EVENT presented on the Floating Stage is being sponsored by The Italian Fisherman, Media One Group, Smith's, The See-Zurh House, Century 21 Turner Brokers and The Bemus Bay Pops.

The Bemus Bay Pops Present The Little River Band, August 28

The Bemus Bay Pops Concert Series is very proud to announce a SPECIAL EVENT performance of The Little River Band on August 28, 2010 with the show starting at 7:30 pm on The Floating Stage located next to The Italian Fisherman Restaurant 61 Lakeside Drive Bemus Point, New York.

 Little River Band was the first Australian band to successfully conquer foreign markets from an Australian base. Within eight months of their birth in 1975, they had already scored three Australian Top 20 singles and two Top Ten albums. Then in 1976, their self-titled album was released in the US and Canada and they began their first of many tours across North America.

Comedy Night in the Arena Club

Featuring Bubba Bradley, a national touring comedian who can be seen on NBC and Joe Ullo, winner of the Rock 103.1 Last Comic Standing ‘09. Adam Owens, 2010 winner of the Rock 103.1 Last Comic Standing contest will be the emcee for the show rounding out a great cast of comics to keep everybody entertained all night long! The show will take place August 20th at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena Club. Doors open at 7:30 pm with showtime at 8:30 pm. There will be an $8 Cover and this is a 18 and up show. REO Speedwagon Comes to Jamestown NY!!

            What started as a local band playing cover songs in campus bars at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana grew to become an enduring musical force, selling more than 40 million albums and being honored with a Behind the Music special on VH1.
