News

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A Walmart in Fredonia had to be evacuated on Wednesday after a juvenile threatened a shooting.

Police say around 2:20 p.m. the Walmart on Bennett road had received several calls from a subject claiming to be in the store, with a loaded firearm and they were going to start shooting.

Police responded to the Walmart and temporarily evacuated the store while searching for the suspect.

Shortly after clearing the Walmart police located the juvenile suspect for questioning. The suspect confessed to making the calls in response to what they had read on YouTube regarding others having made similar calls.

At no time was the juvenile in the store nor did he possess any firearms.

The juvenile was arrested for Making a Terroristic Threat, a class D-Felony.
