Local Dog Treat Company Donates to the SPCA

Cheektowaga-based Fetch! Dog Treats made the holiday season a lot more enjoyable for some four-legged friends by making a sizable donation of homemade, natural dog treats to the SPCA Serving Erie County. The company also made a cash donation to the 2013 SPCA Radiothon to help fund day-to-day operations at the local humane organization.

Company owner Jackie Lovern has also pledged to make a donation to a local animal rescue shelter for every package of Fetch! treats sold during the 2013 holiday season.

Jamestown, NY – You are invited to celebrate the holidays with the animals and staff of the Audubon Center and Sanctuary.

On Friday, December 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, you can meet some Audubon animals up close during a live animal presentation at Christmas with the Critters.

Audubon staff will bring some of the animals out to meet you. You can learn about them, touch them, and wish them a very happy holiday.

Activities will include making a gift for the animals, reading a story, and opening some of the animals’ presents.

For admission to the party, it is $7/person and $5/Friends of the Nature Center. Or you may take a gift tag from the Giving Tree that stand in the lobby of the Nature Center building, purchase the item, and bring it back as your admission. If you can’t attend the event, you can place your wrapped gift under the tree beforehand.

State Horse Owners Urged to Vaccinate Against Disease

(Welcome to our pet column, courtesy of Pet Connection Programs Inc. of Marilla. We post a new article each week, so be sure to check back on a regular basis!)

State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine recently urged horse owners across New York State to vaccinate their horses against Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile Virus (WNV). This is especially important since parts of New York have mosquito activity into late November.

Adopt A Pet: Daphne

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Suzanne Laba from the Buffalo Animal Shelter once again stopped by the Daybreak Saturday studios with Daphne, a wonderful dog currently living in a foster home.

Daphne is a very friendly dog and was jumping on our newsroom desks before the show! She has been living with her foster mother since this past April.

She is about 18 months old and is housebroken and friendly to everyone she meets.

If you're interested in adopting Daphne, you can email her foster mother here.
