Audubon Taking Orders for 2013 Calendars, Selling “Audubon Bucks”

Audubon Taking Orders for 2013 Calendars, Selling “Audubon Bucks”

Jamestown, NY – If your holiday shopping list includes some impossible-to-buy-for folks, the Audubon Center and Sanctuary has some great choices for you.

Following last year’s inaugural success, Audubon has created a unique 2013 natural history calendar that combines beautiful nature images from local photographers with a natural history timeline for each month.

The calendar helps you learn more about what is happening in nature and when to go looking and listening for it: When should you listen for owls at night? What time of year can you find certain wildflowers? When is the peak migration for birds? When do bats migrate? Wait, bats migrate?!?

The photographers who contributed their stunning work include Audubon staff and volunteers, Audubon Nature Photography Club and community members as well as professionals.

Another great hostess gift or stocking stuffer possibility: Audubon Bucks.

Have a Beautiful Garden and Support Audubon

Have a Beautiful Garden and Support Audubon

Jamestown, NY – The Audubon Center and Sanctuary is sponsoring a Garden Fundraiser, a way for you to have a beautiful garden and support their gardens at the same time.

Gardens are one of Audubon’s teaching resources. Thousands of school aged children tour the Center and visit the gardens with great enthusiasm and lots of questions. Visitors to the annual Monarch Butterfly Festival in August learn which plants are good caterpillar food and which are good as nectar plants for adult butterflies.

Barbara Case, lead garden volunteer, and her crew of gardeners have organized a special fundraiser to benefit Audubon’s gardens.

Luncheon Event Added to Saturday’s SWAN Day Celebration

Jamestown, NY – Deciding that food and art are an irresistible combination, the organizers of this Saturday’s (March 31) Support Women Artists Now (SWAN) Day celebration have added a visual presentation of the availability of food in Jamestown.

The public is invited to bring their lunch to the 1 pm event at the Reg Studio Theatre at 112 East Third Street in downtown Jamestown to learn from Jamestown native Christina Marsh, who describes herself as “not just a foodie but a food maven!”

With a background in food preparation and management, Marsh has a passion for using food that is locally produced. After taking photographs of places where people can get food in this area, she analyzed them, looking particularly at location and access.
