Holiday Events are the Focus at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery

 

Several holiday-themed classes and events are planned in the upcoming weeks at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca.

A Colored Pencil Class with artist Cindi O’Mara will offer students an opportunity to  create holiday designs they can then use to design their own holiday cards! Classes will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 4 and 11, and the cost is $40. A supply list for the class can be found on the gallery’s website.

One the nation’s most popular artisan markets, Christmas in the Country-Erie returns to the Bayfront Convention Center Nov. 15-16. The artisan market will welcome 150 artists from the Erie area and across the country who will be displaying and selling their unique handcrafted creations including home décor, gourmet foods, original music, trendsetting jewelry, hand-poured aromatic candles, children’s toys and clothing, stylish pottery, original wall art, gifts for pets and holiday gift items galore. The event is ranked among the Top 100 Contemporary and Classic Art Festivals in the nation by Sunshine Artist, a leading trade publication.

A new indoor farmers’ and food producers’ market will open inside the new 3,000-square-foot home of The Pasta Peddler and Blackbird Sweets, located at 1547 Hertel Ave., Buffalo, on Saturday, Nov. 22. The 20-week market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through April 4.

Jamestown, NY – “With the approach of inventory time for our Blue Heron Gift Shop, we decided to give both ourselves and our supporters a break by having a sale.”

That’s how Jamestown Audubon President Ruth Lundin announced that all the edibles in the recently renovated and expanded nature store at the Audubon Center & Sanctuary will be discounted on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, September 13 and 14. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday hours are 1-4:30 p.m.

“We have a great selection of locally produced edibles that we’re going to offer at 20% off – or 30% to Friends of the Nature Center,” Lundin said. She noted that these make great gifts and include jams and jellies, honey, Stedman Corners bird-friendly coffee, pancake mix, and maple syrup and related products, like raspberry maple spread and sweet maple mustard.

Selected t-shirts and polo shirts will also be on sale.

All these will be available as long as the supplies last.

Cabela’s Incorporated, the World's Foremost Outfitter® of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, will celebrate the official grand opening of its Cheektowaga, N.Y., store Thursday, August 7, 2014.

A ribbon cutting ceremony, hosted by Cabela's executives and special guests, will begin at 10:45 a.m. and conclude with the grand-opening ribbon being cut by an arrow shot from a bow by a local Cabela’s employee. Doors will open for business at 11 a.m.

Michael J. Maccalupo, author of The Allentown Murders, will take part in a reading and book-signing event at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Dog Ears Bookstore, 688 Abbott Road, South Buffalo.

Set in the City of Buffalo, The Allentown Murders finds four unlikely heroes facing a possible serial killer as they search for clues to the murder of a loved one. The spirits of a little girl and a murdered friend attempt to warn our heroes of impending danger – or are they?

Maccalupo is the author of three other fiction books, including Where the Road Begins, Murder at Ravenswood Hall and The Almost Definitive Collection vol. 1.

East Aurora Readies for 45th Annual Street Festival and Sidewalk Sale

 

One of East Aurora’s most popular annual events — the Street Festival and Sidewalk Sale — returns on Saturday, July 26, and will feature more than 100 vendors, special guests and numerous fun-filled family activities. Now in its 45th year, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Main Street.

Doug Allen, national anthem singer for the Buffalo Sabres, will be joined by the American Legion Post #362 Color Guard to perform the Star-Spangled Banner at 9:45 a.m. Chalk Walk Murals, sponsored by the Town of Aurora Recreation Department, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the award-winning Rince Na Tiarna Irish dancers will perform at 10:30 a.m. Unyts will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
