Justin Bailey to Sign Autographs at Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles

Buffalo Sabres right wing and Williamsville native Justin Bailey will visit Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, for an autograph-signing event. Bases Loaded is located at 794 French Road in Cheektowaga.

Bailey was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Last year he played in eight games with the Sabres and 70 games with the Rochester Americans, where he produced 20 goals and 25 assists.

Autographs will be free with the purchase of a photo, puck or other hockey item from Bases Loaded.

If you’d like some help making exercise a priority, you’ll want to take part in Total Fitness at the Audubon Nature Center on Thursday morning, August 4.

Indoor Cycling Instructor and multi-sport outdoor enthusiast Susan Stancombe will lead this 9:15-11:15 a.m. workshop that begins in a coffee shop-like setting. She will review the benefits of open air exercise to both physical and mental wellbeing and introduce basic static and dynamic stretches that are valuable to any fitness program. Then she will go over how to dress for success in the outdoors, lest the four seasons scare you into the gym.

Audubon Nature Center’s July 30 Wild 5K Run/Walk Adds Awards Group

Jamestown, NY – Whatever your age, whether you like to run or if walking is more your speed, there’s a spot for you at the Audubon Nature Center’s Wild 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, July 30.

Thanks to requests from participants, a new age group has been added to this year’s competition.  Now with a 70+ category for both walkers and runners, those 70 and older will no longer have to compete against 60-year-olds.

Prizes will be awarded to the first three overall male and female walker and runner finishers. Age group awards will be given to the top three finishers in each for runners and top finisher in each for walkers. Age groups are 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The awards ceremony will begin at 10:30 for those who have finished.

Volunteers Needed for Audubon Nature Center Wild 5K Run/Walk July 30

Jamestown, NY – With hundreds of runners and walkers converging on Saturday, July 30, the Audubon Nature Center needs dozens of volunteers for their annual Wild 5K Run/Walk.

By teaming up with Trackqua to speed up the registration process and provide chip-timed results, planners are expecting even greater participation this year.

The 8-8:45 a.m. registration and 9 a.m. start time mean volunteers will be required as early as 7:30 a.m. to help with parking through to after-race clean-up in the early afternoon.

Folks will be needed to staff the water station and serve as trail cheerleaders/direction pointers from before the start to the end of the race. Other assignments include staffing the registration, refreshment and award tables, and helping at the finish line.

The Wild 5K is open to runners and walkers of all ages and will raise money to support the on-going efforts to protect the Nature Center’s more than 600 acres of unique habitat.

Annual No Frills Buffalo Golf Tournament to Benefit Hospice Foundation

No Frills Buffalo publishing company’s eighth annual golf outing to benefit the Hospice Foundation will take place on Friday, July 8, at Chestnut Hill Country Club, 1330 Broadway, Darien Center.

Individual golfers, foursomes and sponsors are still being sought for the annual “Come Get Some” golf tournament. Registration and lunch begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start.

Registration for the event is just $80 per golfer and includes lunch, a steak dinner, beverages and 18 holes of scramble-format golf. Tickets for dinner only are available for $40. Golfers of all skill levels are welcomed to participate in the event, which has now raised approximately $19,000 for Hospice since 2009.

Jamestown, NY – On Saturday, July 30, 2016, runners and walkers of all ages will again participate in the Audubon Nature Center’s annual Wild 5K Run/Walk. The 2016 event will raise money to support the on-going efforts to protect the Nature Center’s more than 600 acres of unique habitat.

The goal of the event is to provide an opportunity to enjoy the distinctive beauty of Audubon’s sanctuary while posing a meaningful challenge. The Wild 5K brings together nature-enthusiasts, athletes, businesses, families, friends and volunteers to discover common interests and values in the happenings on race day.
