Historic Colden Mill Restaurant Officially Reopens

The Colden Mill Restaurant has officially reopened under the ownership of local proprietors Chuck Morlock and Chef Matt Webb. The duo is writing a fresh chapter in the mill’s 183-year history with a series of building updates and renovations, as well as a new contemporary American menu, featuring both comfort food and many local favorites.

"The mill has always been known for its great character, and I think folks are really going to be surprised by all the work we have done to rehabilitate and preserve the restaurant’s entrance, bar and dining areas, kitchen, and bathrooms," said Owner Chuck Morlock. "And we aren’t done yet, next up is a series of improvements to the banquet facility."

Colden Mill Restaurant will make the perfect spot for post-skiing fare, a casual stop following a beautiful country drive, or as a place to kick-back and catch a Bills, Sabres, or college football game. The restaurant’s cuisine, which is being crafted by Owner and Chef Matt Webb, features appetizers such as beef on weck croquettes, carrot ginger soup, and lobster poutine; comfort food entrees such as buttermilk fried chicken, served with a spicy herb dip, and classics such as a bacon blue cheese crusted filet mignon.

"There really is something for everyone on our menu," said Owner and Chef Matt Webb. "We have spent countless hours coming up with many unique tastes and twists on everyday favorites that people will really enjoy."

The official grand opening of the Colden Mill Restaurant will take place this upcoming November. During the current soft-opening period, the mill will be open Tuesday through Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Brunch will be served on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. For reservations, please call 716-941-3081. Once a grain mill dating back to the 1830's, the historic atmosphere combined with original solid beam construction gives the impression of a time long past. The mill has endured many transitions in its history. Today, the Colden Mill Restaurant is housed in what was an expansion space for the former Wohleuter Company.
